Club Mwah proud of DOT Award

Follies ala Filipiniana Soon

It's only the first quarter of the year, but Club Mwah, the multi-awarded, gltizy and glamorous entertainment place is already showing positive signs of a fruitful 2006.

Pocholo Malilin, the establishment's vice president and administrative officer, says that Department of Tourism has accredited the place as a Tourism Entertainment Club by virtue of Accreditation no. R-001-2006, pursuant to Executive Order No. 120, given last Feb. 9 by DoT Undersecretary Atty. Oscar P. Palabyab.

"We are greatly honored and thankful of this accreditation because we know how other establishment yearn this. Club Mwah is the first awardee for 2006," says Malilin.

He also informs People's Journal that Blub Mwah will soon go Filipiniana with Filipino folk dances given a Las Vegas twist. "This is in addition to the Bedazzled and Follies de Mwah numbers. It's like Bayanihan at Caesar's Palace, can you visualize it?"

The Club Mwah stars recently performed at the opening of the newly renovated grand theater of the Casino-Filipino Paranaque, on the occasion of the Celebrity Charity Poker Game event of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation, upon the invitation of PAGCOR chairman and President Ephraim Genuino and CEO Butch Francisco. Celebrities spotted at the affair were Edu Manzano, Angelu de Leon, Troy and KC Montero, and Mylene Dizon.

Malilin adds that negotiations are being finalized for the Club Mwah performers to go to Beijing, China for a series of performances.

And what do you know, the Philippine-Guam Travel & Tours Bureau has a standing invitation for the group to go to Agana, Guam, for another series of shows!

The Guam invitation came after the Mwah performers impressed the bureau's people when, upon invitation bt the Philippine Travel & Tours Association, they did a show at the Megatrade Hall of SM Megamall, where they proved to be tremendous crowd - drawers.

Club Mwah's reputation of splendor and grandiosity precedes itself. The recipient of three awards, all within its first year of operation, it never fails to entrail and captivate Manila's bar - going crowd, even those whose club-meters are exceptionally high.

Born out of owners Chris Nicalas and Pocholo Malilin's dream of bringing into the country a venue that will showcase Filipino talent and artistry - a dream which required them years and a lot of patience and money to turn into reality - CLUB Mwah ("mwah" is a French word meaning "kiss") became an instant hit among clubbers since its opening in late 2004.

What's enciting about Club Mwah besides its physical grandeur (the owners are said to have spared no expense in every aspect of the place) is its surprising mix of ambiance - relaxing yet energetic, classy yet affordable and without the alienation and stiffness that is often perceived in musical and theater productions. Guests can drink, eat, talk and laugh while they are being entertained by performers in elaborate costumes and rich make-up - Bedazzled and Folles de Mwah!

This year, the club features Bedazzled 5!, a never-seen before Broadway- and Las Vegas inspired extravaganza.

"The pacing is faster this time and change of sets is seamless, you wont have the slightest idea that you're watching another production number, says Malilin.

For guests who want to simply relax and keep to themselves, they may opt to stay at The Quiet Room, where they can watch movies, belt out songs with the karaoke or banter around while listening to music of their choice. Or, if they change their mind, they can simply side the glass panels and watch the performance from the comfort and coziness of the Quiet Room.

On "no show" nights (and even days), Club Mwah plays host to meetings, gatherings, launches, shows, concerts, and plays. Club Mwah opens at 8:30pm. Dinner is served while guests are listening to the beautiful music. Showtime is at 10pm. There's free valet parking.

For reservations, call Club Mwah at 535-7943 and 532-2282 or 631-6009, or visit Club Mwah at The Venue Tower, 652 Boni Ave., Mandaluyong City, and get bedazzled by the newest and hottest spot in the country's clubbing scene. Visit its website at www.clubmwah.com.
