| Bedazzled IV at Club Mwah You
think you've seen them all. This is not true in the case of the shows at Club
Mwah, considered the Philippines' answer to Caesar's Palace of Las Vegas and Studio
54 of New York. One is definitely different from the others.
"Bedazzled
IV", the club's 2006 year opener, offers new surprises never before seen
in previous presentations. The pacing is faster and the change of sets is more
spontaneous you wont even have the slightest idea it's another production number
already you're watching! The
Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, full production ends up with the dancers actually
holding high a huge diamond. The spoof of Little Mermaid is campy. It leads to
another spoof of Titanic from the movie complete with ship details and the ever-haunting
theme song, My Heart Will Go On. A
Jennifer Lopez dead ringer actually, pretty and sexier than the original, does
an interpretation of "Waiting for Tonight" complete with JLos trademark
bumps and grinds.
The Samba
suite is a feast for the eyes with the colorful costumes and props reminiscent
of the Mardi Gras festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The
Egyptian number featuring an ultra-sexy Queen Nefertiti with her subjects are
clad in in lavish ala-Cleopatra costumes with a blast! An
Eartha Kitt comic impersonation looked like a contrasting into a serious "Phantom
of the Opera," number until the comic twist at the end hidden under the long
train of the heroine's gown! Summed
up, Bedazzled IV is a fitting affirmation of Club Mwah!'s five awards harvested
in a span of little over a year. It bespeaks of the place's trademark as venue
for opulent, world-class, splendid performances comparable with the best in the
world! back
