Club Mwah's Cris Nicolas: Todo na 'To!

Club Mwah's head honcho Cris Nicolas was never about to give up his maybe thankless but noble job of providing the Filipinos world-class entertainment. Over a year since he started operating this veritable entertainment venue at Boni Ave. Mandaluyong City, it seemed Cris wanted to take a break. During a recent interview on television show Balitang "K", Cris Nicolas mentioned to host Korina Sanchez na parang gusto na niyang tumigil.

However, Club Mwah's EVP and Cris' partner Pocholo Malilin jokes, "What he actually meant was... he's tired, but dont we all get tired even by not doing anything at all?" He adds, "Kung tutuusin, talaga namang nakakapagod. Imagine, we sleep late in the wee hours of the morning of the club. Bukod sa pagiging presidente ni Cris, siya pa rin ang choreographer na nagtuturo at nagte-train ng mga artist para sa mga production numbers namin. At hindi lang iyon, kasama na rin siyang nagpe-perform!"

I waited an hour for Cris to interview him. He finally shoed up, profusely perspiring and almost drenched all over. "Sorry, galing pa ako ng kitchen at fina-finalize namin ang food na ise-serve sa special corporate show namin. for tomorrow," Cris apologized. But I insisted that he changed his clothes first bago pa siya magkasakit and he thanked me for that. Fifteen minutes later, he was back and ready to answer my questions.

"Totoo ang paliwanag ni Pocholo," confirms Cris. "How can I give up when there's no turning back? Halus fully-booked kami. Monday lang sarado ang club and our dance company, the Bedazzled, is even contracted to do shows elsewhere in private resorts and top hotels all around the country. In fact, kagagaling lang namin sa Boracay at Waterfront sa Cebu, kung saan kami nag-show. Dalawang chartered planes ang ipinagamit sa amin ng producers, isa para sa amin, at isa para sa mga props at costumes. Imagine?" pagmamalaki ni Cris.

However, he adds, " And then again, I have to train our performers para sa Christmas production. Ako ang nag-isip ng concept, nagtuturo at nag-iisip ng costume design na akma sa production.

At papaano pa niya gagampanan ang pagiging magulang niya sa nag-iisang anak? Pagdating dyan ay walang excuse. Maniniwala ka bang personal kong inihahatid-sundo sa klase ang anak ko? Ginusto kong magka-anak. Kailangan kong tuparin ang tungkulin sa kanya bilang magulang no matter what, Cris insists. At nakuha niya pang ngumiti despite his busy and excessively demanding work schedule.
