| Bedazzled 5 Dazzles Audiences
at Club Mwah You think
you've seen them all. Not so true when you consider the spectacular shows at Club
Mwah, considered the Philippines' answer to Caesar's Palace of Las Vegas and Studio
54 of New York. One is definitely different from the others. Club
Mwah!, touted as an "Outstanding Theater Bar in the Philippines and in Asia,"
certainly has the talents, the creativr performances, and the flair for theatrical
presentations that make up a wide and wild variety of show-stopping acts.
For
it's 2006 year opener, Club Mwah offers a spectacular Las Vegas and Broadway -
inspired extravaganza entitled "Bedazzled 5." Bedazzled
5, offers new surprises never before seen in previous presentations. The pacing
is faster and the change of sets is more spontaneous you wont even have the slightest
idea it's another production number already you're watching! In
Madonna's "Who's That Girl," beautiful damsels regale audiences in their
elegant gowns and masks, and segues to a hilarious spoof of Maria's I Feel Pretty
from the famous Broadway musicale of West Side Story.
The
Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend, full production ends up with the dancers actually
holding high a huge diamond. The spoof of Little Mermaid is campy. Mermainds jump
on their tails to compete for the attention of a handsome Sailor and King Kong.
It leads to another spoof of Titanic, complete with an impressive set design and
the flick's haunting theme song. A
Jennifer Lopez dead ringer actually, pretty and sexier than the original, does
an interpretation of "Waiting for Tonight" complete with JLos trademark
bumps and grinds.
The
Samba suite is a feast for the eyes with the colorful costumes and props reminiscent
of the Mardi Gras festival in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. A
full-costumed Egyptian Tableau features Queen Nefertiti, plus a whole phalanx
of slaves and soldiers in their extraordinary dance number against a backdrop
of a pyramid and sphinx. The elegant Queen Nefertiti and her subjects are clad
in elegant gold and blue. The scene segues into a staccatocadenced belly dance
routine that shows "ladies" wearing gilded veils. An
Eartha Kitt comic impersonation looked like a contrasting into a serious "Phantom
of the Opera," number until the comic twist at the end hidden under the long
train of the heroine's gown! Another
spectacular production number is the gold, fuchsia, and black full-Cabaret sequence
reminiscent of the glamorous 1940s-50s era, a throw-back to the theaters acts
of Moulin Rouge and New York's Broadway. As
Club Mwah moves on its second year as the only Las Vegas and Moulin Rouge combined
kind of entertainment bar in the Philippines, its artistic director, Cris Nicolas
and vice president and partner Pocholo Malillin, keep on concocting fabulous production
numbers for the viewing delight and visual satisfaction of its international clientele
and prestigious corporate accounts and well-heeled clients.
The
club opens at 8:30pm, when customers can have dinner, drinks, and dancing till
10pm. At exactly 10pm, it's showtime. For show come-ons, visit the place's website
